Representative John Soper is currently serving his third term for House District 34 and is a member of the Local Government Committee as well as the Business Affairs & Labor Committee. John also served for two years on the Health and Human Services Committee.

John has a wide range of life experiences

In 1992, Rep Soper received the Adams County Democrat of the Year Award for his extensive service to the community. He has served on numerous boards and committees including: the Thornton Planning Commission for eleven years, County Parliamentarian for over twenty years and House District 34 chair for over twenty years. John was also appointed by Governor Romer to serve on the (CCIA) Pinnacle Assurance Board of Directors where he served for six years. John Soper is a retired electrician and 22 year veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served as a hospital corpsman. Rep. Soper also taught for five years at Red Rockss Community College. John Soper is currently the House sponsor of the weekly bible study and the sportsman caucus.

Colorado Native and Family

John is a third generation Colorado Native and a product of the Denver Public Schools. He was born and raised in north Denver, moving to Adams County in 1967. John has been married for over 47 years to his wife Juanita. They raised three children and have nine grandchildren.
